The Northeast Early Childhood Council (NECC) Early Learning Kits were created in 2021 in response to the changing needs of families during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. As many families kept young children at home and participation in preschool and early learning programs declined, NECC recognized the importance of making sure families still had access to hands-on learning tools and resources to support their child’s development. The Early Learning Kits were designed to help families build skills aligned with the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) while preparing children for kindergarten through play-based learning and family engagement. Each kit includes age-appropriate activities, educational materials, and resources that families can use at home to support learning, development, and school readiness. NECC offers these to families in our 7 communities for free.
