In 2026, the Northeast Early Childhood Council (NECC) recognized the need in our region to help new parents connect with local resources and supports from the very beginning of their parenting journey. We created the New Parent Resource Kit initiative to make it easier for first-time parents to find helpful information, learn about services available in their community, and feel connected and supported as they welcome a new baby.
The first kits will begin rolling out through community partners in September 2026, with plans to continue expanding the initiative and reaching more families throughout our region.
What’s In The Kit?
Each kit includes family-friendly resources on topics such as:
- Infant development and learning
- Building strong relationships with your baby
- Supporting your baby’s social-emotional development
- Infant health and safety
- Safe sleep and home safety
- Local resources and supports for families
Kits also include a Mayo Clinic baby-care book, a baby onesie, a furniture safety strap, and other helpful items for new parents.
Who Can Receive a Kit?
New Parent Resource Kits are available to first-time parents with babies 6 months old or younger who live in one of the seven towns served by the Northeast Early Childhood Council.
